Many of us are addicted to drinking different types of soda like Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Sprite and etc. But not that many actually know the harmful and unhealthy ingredients most sodas contain!More recently, planty of campaigns started to encourage people to decrease the consumptions of soda drinks or to stop consuming them totally. But yet, many people after a tiring day, still prefer soda instead of having a healthy juice or a glass of water. Here are all nasty side effects of your favorite soft drink (that should probably make you stop drinking soda):
1. Helps to gain weight
Drinking a lot of soda drinks causes gaining weight.Researchers found that people who drink diet Pepsi have a 75 percent increase in waist circumference over the ten years study, compared with those who do not drink any kind of Pepsi. Those who drink more than 2 diet ones per day see a 400 percent waist expansion. But why are gaining weight from soda? The answer is in the glucose. When our liver finds too much glucose, it automatically converts it into a body fat.
2. Teeth and Bone Damage
The pH level of Coke or Pepsi is 3.2 which are quite high. This pH level decides the acidic nature of a liquid. Hence these beverages are acidic in nature and can dissolve bones and enamels very quickly. How to partly avoid this? Use straw to drink your soda drink.
3. Obesity and Diabetes
Obesity never used to be a “major” problem before soda drinks came out. But, when these products were presented to the public, big amount of people started to suffer from obesity (including teenagers and children).
Because of the high sugar, sodium and caffeine content in these drinks, it dehydrates the body and over a long period of time can cause chronic dehydration.
5. Soda fastens aging
Did you actually knew that scientist confirmed that these drinks may accelerate the aging process? The rats used in the study died around 5 weeks earlier than rats with normal phosphate levels. Phosphoric acid is the third listed ingredient in the can being drunk every second can potentially cause kidney and heart problems, muscle loss and eventually osteoporosis.
